Best OTG for Small Kitchens
Updated 5 November 2026
An OTG is the appliance that turns a small kitchen into a bakery: cakes, biscuits, grilled sandwiches, tandoori chicken and roasted vegetables all come out of a box the size of a microwave. For one or two people, 16 litres is the sweet spot — big enough for an 8-inch cake tin or six muffins, small enough to sit on a counter without dominating it.
What separates a good OTG from a frustrating one is not the wattage. It is whether both heating elements can be selected independently, whether the timer actually switches off, and whether the tray and rack fit in your sink. A 1,200 W oven with proper element control bakes better than a 2,000 W one with a single knob.
These six are all 16 litres or smaller, with prices checked on the date shown and ratings read from each Amazon listing. If you mostly toast and reheat, the 12-litre option at the bottom is enough; if you want to bake regularly, buy 16 litres.

Bajaj 1603 16 L OTG, 1200 W, Cool-Touch Handles
1200 W · 16 L · Grill, bake, roast · Transparent glass door
Best for: A small family that bakes and grills regularly
- The highest-rated 16-litre OTG here, and the glass door lets you watch browning without opening the oven and losing heat.
- Cool-touch handles matter on a countertop appliance that sits at 250 °C for an hour.
- Bajaj service coverage is the widest of any brand in this guide.
Watch out: Fewer accessories than the Borosil at a similar price — check what is in the box if you want skewers and a grill stand.

Borosil Prima Pro 16 L OTG, 1200 W, Baking Kit
1200 W · 16 L · 100–250 °C · 60-min timer · Skewers and crumb tray
Best for: Starting from zero — the box includes what you need to grill
- The kit is unusually complete: grill rack cum barbecue stand, cooking tray, four skewers, tray handle and a removable crumb tray.
- Manual knobs with a 100–250 °C range and a 0–60 minute timer — simple, repairable, and nothing to fail electronically.
- A removable crumb tray makes cleaning far less painful than fixed-floor ovens.
Watch out: No rotisserie, and at 4.0 the rating is good rather than exceptional.

Inalsa 16 L OTG, 1200 W, 4-Stage Heat Selection
1200 W · 16 L · 100–250 °C · 4 heat settings · 2 rack positions
Best for: Baking and toasting on a budget
- A 100–250 °C range and four heat settings with two rack positions cover baking, broiling, toasting and keeping food warm.
- The listing says it reaches temperature in two to three minutes, which is quick for a 16-litre oven.
- The cheapest 16-litre oven here from a brand with a real service network.
Watch out: Basic finish and a smaller accessory set than the Borosil for about ₹500 less.
Approx. ₹3,599

AGARO Marvel 25 L OTG, Motorised Rotisserie, 5 Heat Modes
25 L · 100–250 °C · Motorised rotisserie · 5 heating modes
Best for: Roasting whole chicken or baking two trays at once
- 25 litres is the largest oven here, and it still costs less than the 16-litre Bajaj — you trade a little finish for a lot of space.
- A motorised rotisserie with forks is genuinely useful for whole chicken, paneer tikka and vegetables on a skewer.
- Five heating modes and a 100–250 °C range give you more control than the price suggests.
Watch out: Rated 3.8, and a 25-litre oven is physically large — measure your counter and check it clears the wall cabinet.
Approx. ₹3,899

CADLEC Cruise Pro 12 L OTG, 1000 W
1000 W · 12 L · Timer and temperature control
Best for: Toast, small bakes and reheating where space is tight
- 12 litres fits on a shelf or in a corner where a 16-litre oven will not, and at 1,000 W it is gentler on a shared circuit.
- Temperature control and a timer, so it can do small cakes and cookies rather than only toast.
- At ₹1,699 it is less than half the price of the 16-litre picks.
Watch out: An 8-inch cake tin will not fit, and the 3.7 rating means you should test it thoroughly inside the return window.
Approx. ₹1,699

Morphy Richards 20 R OTG, 20 L
20 L · Bake, grill, toast · Rotisserie ready
Best for: A family that wants one oven between 16 and 25 litres
- 20 litres is the middle ground: an 8-inch tin plus a second small tray, or a whole chicken without the bulk of a 25-litre oven.
- A known kitchen-appliance brand, with the accessory support that comes with it.
- Useful if you want one oven for both daily toast and weekend baking.
Watch out: The lowest-rated pick here at 3.7 and the most expensive — only choose it if 20 litres specifically fits your counter.
Approx. ₹4,999

How big an OTG do you actually need?
Capacity is measured in litres and it maps almost directly to what fits inside. A 12-litre oven takes a 6-inch tin, four slices of bread or a small tray of biscuits. A 16-litre oven takes an 8-inch cake tin, six muffins, a whole chicken of about 1 kg, or a tray of vegetables for two. A 20–25 litre oven is a family oven and takes a 9-inch tin plus a second rack.
Small kitchens gain more from a 16-litre oven than from a bigger one. It fits under a wall cabinet, heats up faster, and draws less power — 1,200 W is about 5.2 A at 230 V, so it runs comfortably on a normal 16 A kitchen point without tripping anything else.
Whatever you buy, leave 10–15 cm clear above and behind the oven. OTGs vent hot air from the top and back, and pushing one into a closed shelf is how kitchens end up smelling of scorched cabinets.
| Capacity | Fits | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 12 L | 6-inch tin, 4 slices, small biscuit tray | Toasting, reheating, one or two people |
| 16 L | 8-inch tin, 6 muffins, 1 kg chicken | The standard small-family OTG |
| 20–25 L | 9-inch tin, two racks, larger bakes | Families of four or more |
The controls that matter
Look for a temperature dial that goes to at least 250 °C, a mechanical timer up to 60 minutes, and separate switches for the top and bottom elements. Element selection is what lets you grill from above without burning the base, or bake with both on for an even rise.
A rotisserie is worth having only if you actually roast whole chicken or paneer. It adds a motor and forks, and on a 16-litre oven it takes up space you could use for a second rack. The Bajaj here includes one; the Borosil trades it for a fuller accessory kit.
Preheat for 10 minutes before baking, use the middle rack unless the recipe says otherwise, and put a piece of foil on the crumb tray — it is much easier to replace foil than to scrub caramelised sugar off a tray.
Questions we get asked
Is a 16-litre OTG enough for a family of four?
For a single cake, a tray of biscuits or a 1 kg chicken, yes. For a full meal with two trays at once, no — you need 20 litres or more, or you bake in two batches.
Can I bake a cake in a 12-litre OTG?
Yes, but only a small one — a 6-inch tin. A standard 8-inch cake tin will not fit, and the top will be too close to the element and brown before the centre sets.
Does an OTG need a special socket?
No. At 1,200 W it draws about 5.2 A, so a normal 16 A kitchen point is fine. Avoid running it on the same extension board as a kettle or induction cooktop.
