Best Air Purifier Under ₹15000

Updated 5 November 2026

An air purifier is a fan, a filter and a sensor. What you pay for is how much air it moves per hour — the CADR — and how long the filter lasts before it needs replacing. Everything else is display and app features.

In Delhi NCR from late October, indoor PM2.5 can be several times the safe limit even with windows shut. A purifier only helps if it can cycle the air in your room often enough, which is why the room-size claim matters more than the brand on the front.

All seven were verified on Amazon India on the date shown. Coverage figures are manufacturer claims; every one assumes a closed room and a clean filter.

The picks

Ordered from the cheapest HEPA unit up to the best filter life. Check the replacement filter price for the model before buying — that is the real running cost.

Levoit Core Mini Air Purifier
1. Best for a small roomRated 4.4 / 5 on Amazon

Levoit Core Mini Air Purifier

3-stage HEPA + carbon · 17 m² coverage · 8,500 h filter life · 3 speeds · 2-year warranty

Best for: A single bedroom or a study up to 180 sq ft

  • The highest rating among the budget units at 4.4.
  • 8500 hours of filter life, so a filter lasts roughly a year of nightly use.
  • Quiet enough for a bedside table, with an aromatherapy pad that takes essential oils.

Watch out: It is a personal-room purifier. At 17 m² it cannot clean a living room, and it has no air-quality sensor or auto mode.

  • A genuine H13 HEPA filter with activated carbon at ₹4,999.
  • 152 m³/h CADR and a 235 sq ft coverage claim.
  • Honeywell's service network and filter availability in India.

Watch out: No air-quality sensor, app or auto mode. You switch it on and choose a speed yourself, and the 4.0 rating reflects that basic feature set.

3. Best all-rounderRated 4.2 / 5 on Amazon

Mijia by Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Compact

230 m³/h CADR · 400 sq ft · 3-stage filtration · PM2.5 sensor · app and voice control · 20 dB sleep mode

Best for: One unit for a bedroom or a small living room

  • 230 m³/h CADR with a 400 sq ft coverage claim — nearly double the cheapest unit here.
  • A built-in PM2.5 sensor with automatic speed control, so it reacts to the air instead of running flat out.
  • 20 dB in sleep mode and remote control through the Mi Home app.

Watch out: The 400 sq ft figure assumes low pollution and a closed room. In heavy smog, treat it as a 250–300 sq ft purifier.

  • Five filtration stages including HEPA H13 and a nano-silver antibacterial layer.
  • Auto, Manual, Sleep and AI modes, with real-time AQI in the Qubo app.

Watch out: 150 m³/h is the lowest CADR among the smart units here, so keep it to one bedroom rather than an open living room.

5. Best mid-rangeRated 4.4 / 5 on Amazon

Philips AC0920 Smart Air Purifier

250 m³/h CADR · up to 320 sq ft · 2-layer NanoProtect HEPA · AeraSense sensor · 20.5 dB sleep

Best for: A living room where you want it to look after itself

  • 250 m³/h CADR and a coverage claim up to 320 sq ft.
  • AeraSense scans the air 1,000 times a second and adjusts the fan automatically.
  • 20.5 dB sleep mode and no app required — every control is on the unit.

Watch out: The 320 sq ft figure is a GB/T area claim; the listing also quotes 700 sq ft under a different standard. Use 300 sq ft as a realistic ceiling.

Philips Air Purifier 900 Series
6. Best for allergyRated 4.5 / 5 on Amazon

Philips Air Purifier 900 Series

250 m³/h CADR · 20 m² in under 12 min · 3-layer HEPA · ECARF certified · 20.5 dB · 23 W max

Best for: A dust or pollen allergy where certified allergen removal matters

  • ECARF certified for allergen removal — a third-party certification, not just a marketing line.
  • 250 m³/h CADR with 23 W maximum power draw, so it costs little to run.
  • 20.5 dB in sleep mode, quieter than a whisper.

Watch out: Same 250 m³/h CADR as the ₹9,499 AC0920. The extra ₹3,000 buys certification and finish, not more cleaning power.

CADR is the only number that matters

CADR — clean air delivery rate — is how many cubic metres of clean air the unit produces per hour. It decides how big a room it can actually clean. Room-size claims are marketing; CADR is measurable.

As a rule of thumb, a 150 m³/h unit suits one bedroom up to about 200 sq ft, 230–250 m³/h suits a bedroom or small hall up to 300–350 sq ft, and anything larger needs 300 m³/h or more. Treat every manufacturer figure one size down during smog season.

The purifier also needs the room closed. With a door or window open, the unit is filtering outdoor air as fast as it enters — which is why people say their purifier "does nothing" in November.

The filter is the real running cost

Every unit here uses a HEPA filter plus a carbon layer for odours. The filter is consumable: in Delhi NCR, expect to replace it once a year, more often if the purifier runs 24 hours a day through winter.

Filter life is quoted in hours — 8,500 to 9,000 hours is about a year of continuous use. Before buying, search for the replacement filter for that exact model and check that it is in stock and reasonably priced. A cheap purifier with unavailable filters is a one-season appliance.

H13 is the grade to look for: it captures 99.95% of particles at 0.3 microns. Some units add a pre-filter (washable, extends HEPA life) and an activated carbon layer for smells. A pre-filter is the feature that actually saves money.

What smog season needs, and what it does not

PM2.5 is the pollutant that matters in north India in November. A HEPA purifier removes it from indoor air; it cannot stop it coming in through gaps, and it does nothing for carbon monoxide or outdoor smoke once the room is opened.

A PM2.5 sensor with auto mode is genuinely useful: the unit speeds up when pollution rises and quietens when the air clears. Without a sensor, you guess at fan speed and leave it on high, which is louder and wears the filter faster.

Ignore ionisers and "ozone" features. Ozone is a lung irritant, and the purifiers recommended here clean by filtration alone.

Questions we get asked

Does an air purifier help with Delhi smog indoors?

Yes, for PM2.5, provided doors and windows stay closed and the unit is sized for the room. It cannot remove gases or stop pollution entering through gaps.

How often do I need to replace the filter?

About once a year in Delhi NCR with winter-long use, or when the filter indicator comes on. Check the replacement filter price for the model before you buy.

Is a ₹5,000 purifier enough for a bedroom?

For a room up to about 200 sq ft, yes. The Honeywell V1 and Levoit Core Mini both use HEPA filtration at that price, but they lack sensors and auto mode.
