Best Curtains Under ₹1500
Updated 5 November 2026
Curtain prices look random until you compare what is in the pack. A ₹729 "set of 2" and a ₹1,446 "pack of 4" can cost the same per panel once you work out the width.
The number that matters is the total flat width. For a gathered look, curtains should be 1.5–2 times the width of the rod or door. A standard 9-foot door curtain panel is about 4 feet wide, so two panels cover a door up to about 4–5 feet wide comfortably.
All six were verified on Amazon India on the date shown. Panels are 9 feet long unless noted, and prices are per pack, not per panel.

The picks
Ordered from the cheapest room-darkening set up to the best light control. Decide first whether you want light filtered or blocked — that changes which fabric to buy.

Floral Printed 9 Feet Door Curtains, Set of 2
9 ft · 4×9 ft panels · set of 2 · 100% polyester · room darkening · 8 grommets per panel
Best for: A rental or a quick refresh on a small budget
- Two 9-foot panels for ₹729 — the lowest per-panel price here.
- Stainless steel grommets slide on a standard rod without rings.
- Machine washable polyester that resists wrinkles.
Watch out: "Room darkening" here means partial blocking, not blackout. If you need a bedroom dark at 6 am, choose the Wakefit set below.

Textured Room Darkening Curtains, Cream, Pack of 2
9 ft · pack of 2 · polyester · opaque · textured weave · machine washable
Best for: A neutral cream curtain that matches most wall colours
- Opaque polyester with a textured weave at ₹773 for two panels.
- Neutral cream suits living rooms and bedrooms without repainting.
- Machine wash in cold or lukewarm water, no special care.
Watch out: The listing gives no panel width, only 9 feet length. Confirm width before buying — a narrow panel will not gather.

9 Feet Cotton Woven Striped Curtain, Sea Blue, Pack of 2
9 ft · 48×108 in panels · pack of 2 · 180 GSM cotton · filters 50–60% sunlight · button tab top
Best for: A living room that should stay bright but not glare
- Cotton fabric with a visible weave, not shiny polyester.
- Filters 50–60% of sunlight, so the room stays bright but the glare goes.
- Button-loop tab top that hangs in even folds without rings.
Watch out: Cotton can shrink on the first wash and needs ironing. The listing says hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold water.

Wakefit Solid Blackout Long Door Curtains, Set of 2
9 ft · set of 2 · 260 GSM polyester · up to 80% room darkening · thermal insulated · tie back included
Best for: A bedroom that needs to stay dark in the morning
- Up to 80% room darkening at 260 GSM — the heaviest fabric here.
- Thermal insulation reduces heat coming through a west-facing door.
- Tie backs included and a brand with a returns process that works.
Watch out: 80% is not full blackout. For a shift worker who needs true darkness, look for a 95%+ blackout curtain sold as such.

Jewear Cotton Floral Printed 9 Feet Curtain, Pack of 2
9 ft · 3.8 ft wide panels · pack of 2 · 100% cotton · semi-sheer · eyelet top
Best for: A traditional cotton curtain that lets light through
- 100% natural cotton with a printed floral design, not a polyester print.
- Semi-sheer, so it softens daylight rather than blocking it.
- Eyelet top that hangs easily on a rod.
Watch out: Panels are 3.8 feet wide — narrower than the 4-foot standard. For a wide door you will need more than two panels.

Sheer Leaf Net Curtains, 9 Feet, Pack of 4
9 ft · 4×9 ft panels · pack of 4 · polyester net · light filtering · machine washable
Best for: A sheer layer behind heavier curtains
- Four panels in one pack — the cheapest per-panel sheer option here.
- Filters light while keeping the room private from the street during the day.
- Layers behind any of the opaque curtains above for a two-curtain look.
Watch out: Net fabric is delicate and offers no privacy at night when the room light is on. It is a layer, not a standalone curtain.

Measure the rod, then multiply
Curtains hang best when their flat width is 1.5–2 times the rod width. A 4-foot door needs two 4-foot panels for a gathered look, or three if you want deep folds.
Most 9-foot sets here are two panels of about 4 feet each, which suits a standard single door. For a window or a wide opening, count the panels before comparing prices.
Length is measured from the rod to the floor for a door, or to the sill for a window. A 9-foot door curtain is designed for a 9-foot door opening; check the panel height and whether the top loop is included in the measurement — some listings include it.
| Opening | Panels needed | Total flat width |
|---|---|---|
| Single 9 ft door | 2 panels | About 8 ft |
| Wide door or small window | 3–4 panels | 10–14 ft |
| Full wall of windows | 4+ panels | 16 ft or more |
Darkening percentages, honestly
Light filtering (50–60%) keeps a room bright but removes glare — good for a living room. Room darkening (80–90%) dims a bedroom but still lets the sunrise in. Blackout (95%+) is for shift workers and projector rooms.
No curtain at this price is true blackout. The Wakefit set claims up to 80%, and the listings that say "room darkening" without a number are usually in the 50–70% range.
If darkness matters, buy the 80% curtain and add a blackout roller blind behind it. That combination beats an expensive single curtain at this budget.
Fabric, weight and washing
GSM tells you how heavy the fabric is. 180 GSM cotton is light and filters light; 260 GSM polyester hangs straighter and blocks more. Heavier fabric also insulates better against heat and sound.
Polyester is the low-maintenance choice — it resists wrinkles, holds colour and machine washes. Cotton looks better but shrinks and creases, so buy a little extra width.
Check the top style before ordering: grommets need a rod with finials, eyelets need a slimmer rod, and tab tops need a plain rod. Matching the wrong top to your rod is the most common curtain return.
Questions we get asked
How many curtain panels do I need for a 9-foot door?
Two panels of about 4 feet each, giving roughly 8 feet of flat fabric for a 4-foot door — enough for a gathered look. For deeper folds, use three panels.
Do blackout curtains reduce heat?
Heavier, thermally insulated curtains like the 260 GSM Wakefit set reduce heat coming through glass, but they are not a substitute for an AC or window film in peak summer.
Will cotton curtains shrink in the wash?
Yes, cotton can shrink on the first wash. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and line dry; buy slightly wider panels to allow for it.
