Best Room Heater Under ₹3000
Updated 5 November 2026
A room heater is the simplest appliance on this site and the one most likely to trip a fuse. Every model here draws about 2,000W, which is more than a 5A socket is meant to carry.
The real choice is type: a fan heater blows hot air and warms a small room in minutes, noisily; a convector heats air slowly and silently, and suits a closed bedroom. Both are rated for 100–250 sq ft, and neither will heat a hall.
The seven picks were verified on Amazon India on the date shown. Room-size figures are manufacturer claims. Running cost is arithmetic: 2,000W for one hour is 2 units of electricity.

The picks
Ordered from the best value fan heater up to the quiet convector and the larger fan heaters. Check the plug type before buying — most need a 15A or 16A socket.

Kenstar Warmo 2000W Fan Room Heater
2000W · 1000W/2000W modes · adjustable thermostat · overheat protection · compact
Best for: A bedroom or study that needs heat within minutes
- Two heat modes and an adjustable thermostat at ₹1,399.
- Overheat protection with automatic cut-off.
- Compact body that fits under a desk or beside a bed.
Watch out: A fan heater is audible — roughly the noise of a table fan on low. If you need silence while sleeping, look at the Usha convector below.

Orient Electric Areva Portable Room Heater
2000W · 1000W/2000W · overheat protection · horizontal or vertical mount · 250 sq ft
Best for: Heating the person, not the room
- Rated for rooms up to 250 sq ft — the largest claim in this guide.
- Can be mounted horizontally or vertically, so it works on a wall or the floor.
- 100% copper motor and a one-year replacement warranty from Orient.
Watch out: Needs a 15A plug point. The listing explicitly warns that a standard 5A or 6A socket will not do — a converter plug is not a fix.
Approx. ₹1,549

Orient Electric New Areva Room Heater (Black)
2000W · 1000W/2000W · overheat protection · copper motor · 1-year replacement
Best for: Matching a dark room where the white Areva would stand out
- The same internals as the ₹1,549 Areva — dual heat modes, overheat protection, copper motor.
- Available in black, which hides dust and scuffs better than white.
- One-year replacement warranty.
Watch out: You are paying ₹100 for the colour. If the white version is in stock, take it and save the difference.
Approx. ₹1,649

Havells Adnis Room Heater 900/1800W
900W/1800W · adjustable thermostat · overheat protection · cool fan function · 2-year warranty
Best for: A small room where you also want a fan in summer
- A cool-fan mode turns it into a regular fan when heating is not needed.
- Adjustable thermostat and overheat protection with a two-year warranty.
- 1,800W max is slightly gentler on a circuit than the 2,000W models.
Watch out: 3.8 is the lowest rating among the branded picks here, and 1,800W heats more slowly than the 2,000W competition.
Approx. ₹1,990

Usha 423N 2000W Heat Convector
2000W · convector · 150 sq ft · overheat protection · cool-touch handle · ISI approved
Best for: Sleeping in a small closed bedroom
- A convector has no fan, so it makes no noise at all — the main reason to choose one.
- Cool-touch handle and ISI certification.
- Overheat protection and a one-year warranty from Usha.
Watch out: Convectors heat slowly — allow 20–30 minutes for a room to feel warm, and keep the door closed. They also dry the air less than fan heaters but do not circulate warmth into corners.
Approx. ₹2,299

Crompton Insta Delight Fan Circulator Room Heater
2000W · 3 heat settings · turbo fan circulation · portable
Best for: Spreading heat across a slightly larger room
- A turbo fan circulates heated air rather than blowing it at one spot.
- Three heat settings for finer control than the usual two.
- Crompton's service network covers most cities.
Watch out: 3.7 is the weakest rating in this guide. Read recent reviews about noise and long-term reliability before choosing it over the Orient.
Approx. ₹2,370

Bajaj Blow Hot 2000W Fan Heater
2000W · 1000W/2000W · temperature control · auto thermal cut-out · 2-year warranty
Best for: Buying a heater you can get serviced locally
- Two-year warranty, the longest in this guide, from a brand with service centres in most towns.
- Automatic thermal cut-off and 1,000W/2,000W heat settings.
- Copper motor and 16A plug, rated for rooms of 100–150 sq ft.
Watch out: The most expensive pick here for the same 2,000W of heat as the ₹1,399 Kenstar. You are paying for warranty and service reach.

Fan heater, convector or oil-filled
Fan heaters push hot air with a blower. They feel warm within seconds and heat a small room quickly, but the fan is audible and the heat is uneven — warm in front, cool behind.
Convectors heat air silently by convection. They take 20–30 minutes to warm a closed room and keep it steady, with no noise. They suit bedrooms and anyone who works from home on calls.
Oil-filled radiators — not in this budget — heat slowly but stay warm after switching off. Under ₹3,000 you are choosing between fan and convector.
| Type | Heat-up time | Noise | Best room |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan heater | Seconds | Audible fan | Quick spot heating, study, bathroom |
| Convector | 20–30 minutes | Silent | Closed bedroom overnight |
The 15A socket problem
A 2,000W heater draws about 9 amps at 230V. A standard 5A or 6A wall socket is not rated for that continuous load, which is why the Orient listing warns against it and the Bajaj uses a 16A plug.
Extension boards and multi-plugs are the common failure point. Most are rated for 6A or 10A in total; a heater alone can exceed that. Plug the heater directly into a 15A/16A point.
If the heater runs off an inverter or UPS, check its rating. A 2,000W draw will overload most home inverters, and it is not a load they are designed to carry.
What a heater actually costs to run
Two thousand watts for one hour is 2 units of electricity. At about ₹8 a unit that is ₹16 an hour, or ₹128 for eight hours of overnight use. A month of nightly heating runs to roughly ₹3,000–₹4,000.
That is before the air-conditioner comparison: a 1.5-ton inverter AC uses more power but heats a whole room. For one person in one room, a heater is cheaper; for a family room, it usually is not.
The 1,000W mode halves the running cost and is enough to take the chill off a small room. Use it once the room is warm rather than running 2,000W all night.
Questions we get asked
Can I plug a room heater into a normal socket?
Not safely. A 2,000W heater draws about 9A, and standard 5A/6A sockets are not rated for that. Use a 15A or 16A point, directly, without an extension board.
How much does a 2000W heater cost per hour?
Two units of electricity per hour. At roughly ₹8 a unit that is about ₹16 an hour, or around ₹128 for eight hours of overnight use.
Fan heater or convector for a bedroom?
Convector if you need silence and can wait 20–30 minutes for the room to warm. Fan heater if you want warmth immediately and do not mind the fan noise.
