Best Mobile Phone Under ₹20000
Updated 5 November 2026
Under ₹20,000 in 2026 you are not choosing between good and bad phones. You are choosing which compromise you can live with: 4G instead of 5G, 64GB instead of 128GB, slow charging instead of fast, or a slightly dimmer screen.
Almost every phone in this band now has a 6.7-inch display, a 50MP main camera and a MediaTek Dimensity 6300-class chip. That means the spec sheet looks identical across seven listings. What actually differs is battery size, charging speed, screen brightness and how much storage you get for the money.
The seven picks here were verified on Amazon India on the date shown. Prices are for the exact variant listed — a 6GB/128GB version of the same phone usually costs ₹1,500–₹3,000 more, so check the variant before comparing.

iQOO Z11 Lite 5G, 4GB + 64GB, 6500mAh, 44W
5G · Dimensity 6300 · 6.74 in 120Hz, 1200 nits · 6500mAh · 44W · IP65
Best for: Long days away from a charger with heavy video use
- The biggest battery and fastest charging combination here — 6500mAh with 44W fills in roughly an hour, where 15W phones take over two.
- 1200 nits is the brightest display in this guide, which is what makes the screen readable outdoors.
- IP65 and drop-test certification give it more everyday resilience than the IP54 phones at similar prices.
Watch out: Only 64GB storage at this price, and 4GB RAM. If you keep a lot of photos or game, the 6GB/128GB variant costs more — check before ordering.

Samsung Galaxy F06 5G, 4GB + 128GB
5G · Dimensity 6300 · 6.7 in HD+ · 50MP + 2MP rear · 8MP front · 5000mAh · 128GB
Best for: Buying a Samsung with real storage at the lowest price
- 128GB storage at ₹15,290 is the best storage-per-rupee here — the same money buys 64GB from most rivals.
- Samsung service centres are the easiest to find in smaller cities, which matters more than a spec sheet on a budget phone.
- Expandable storage means you can add a microSD card instead of replacing the phone when it fills up.
Watch out: The 6.7-inch screen is HD+, not full-HD, and the 5,000mAh battery is the smallest here. Fine for everyday use, not for all-day video.

realme NARZO 80 Lite 4G, 4GB + 64GB, 6300mAh
4G · 6.7 in · 6300mAh · 7.94 mm slim · IP54 · 300% ultra volume
Best for: A first smartphone or a backup phone on a tight budget
- The cheapest phone here by nearly ₹3,000, with a 6300mAh battery that comfortably lasts a full day.
- At 7.94 mm it is slimmer than the 6000mAh phones above it, so it does not feel like a power bank in the pocket.
- IP54 and 300% volume mode suit outdoor and noisy use — calls are audible on a shop floor or a bus.
Watch out: It is 4G only. If your area has good 5G and you plan to keep the phone three years, spend the extra on a 5G model.
Approx. ₹11,998

iQOO Z10 Lite 5G, 4GB + 64GB, 6000mAh
5G · Dimensity 6300 · 6.74 in 90Hz, 1000 nits · 50MP Sony AI camera · 6000mAh · 15W · IP64
Best for: Video and camera use on a budget
- A 50MP Sony sensor with AI photo tools is a step above the generic 50MP cameras on cheaper listings.
- 1000 nits brightness and a 90Hz panel keep the screen usable outdoors and smooth while scrolling.
- IP64 plus military-grade shock resistance covers dust, rain and the occasional drop.
Watch out: 15W charging on a 6000mAh battery is slow — plan on overnight charging rather than a top-up before going out.
Approx. ₹16,999

Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G, 4GB + 128GB, 6000mAh
5G · Dimensity 6300 · 6.7 in 120Hz HD+ · 50MP dual · 6000mAh · 25W · IP54
Best for: A phone you plan to keep for five years
- Samsung claims six generations of OS upgrades for this model — the longest support promise in this guide.
- A 6000mAh battery with 25W charging balances capacity with a sensible top-up speed.
- 120Hz refresh rate at this price, which makes scrolling noticeably smoother than 90Hz.
Watch out: The lowest-rated pick here at 3.8, and the display is HD+ rather than full-HD. Buy it for the update promise, not the screen.
Approx. ₹16,999

Redmi 15C 5G Prime Edition, 6GB + 128GB
5G · Dimensity 6300 · 6.9 in up to 120Hz · 6000mAh · 50MP dual · 6GB + 128GB
Best for: Gaming and multitasking on a ₹18,000 budget
- The only 6GB/128GB combination here, which is what keeps games and browser tabs alive together.
- The largest display in the guide at 6.9 inches — good for video, though it is a big phone in the hand.
- A 6000mAh battery supports long gaming sessions without hunting for a charger.
Watch out: Rated 3.9 and the display is HD+ despite the size. The 6.9-inch body is awkward in smaller pockets.

Motorola g37 5G, 4GB + 64GB, Dimensity 6400
5G · Dimensity 6400 · 4GB LPDDR4X · 64GB UFS 2.2 · microSD up to 1TB
Best for: A clean, expandable phone for everyday apps
- UFS 2.2 storage is faster than the eMMC storage used on several phones in this band, which keeps the interface responsive as it fills.
- The Dimensity 6400 is the newest chip here, with a small efficiency advantage over the 6300 models.
- MicroSD expansion up to 1TB means the 64GB base is less of a limitation than it looks.
Watch out: Only 64GB built in, and the lowest rating tier here at 3.9. The listing is thin on display and camera detail — confirm those before buying.
Approx. ₹14,499

Read the variant before you read the price
A phone listing is really four products in one: 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB and sometimes 8GB/256GB, each with its own price. The card you click usually shows the cheapest one. The ₹15,290 Samsung here is the 4GB/128GB variant; the ₹17,999 Redmi is 6GB/128GB. Those are not the same amount of phone.
For most buyers, 128GB storage matters more than 6GB RAM. Android plus a few apps takes 25–30GB, photos and WhatsApp media take another 20GB within a year, and 64GB phones start prompting you to delete things by month eight. If a 64GB phone is the only one in budget, check that it takes a microSD card.
4GB RAM is enough for calls, WhatsApp, YouTube, UPI and one app at a time. It is not enough to keep a game and a browser alive together without reloading. If you multitask heavily, stretch to 6GB.
| Variant | Typical use | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| 4GB / 64GB | Calls, chat, video, UPI | Fine if it takes a microSD card |
| 4GB / 128GB | Same, plus photos and offline video | The sweet spot in this band |
| 6GB / 128GB | Gaming and heavy multitasking | Worth ₹2,000 more if you game |
What the spec sheet hides
Charging speed is the most under-reported number. A 6,000mAh battery with 15W charging takes close to two and a half hours to fill; the same battery with 44W takes a little over an hour. Both look identical on a listing that only mentions battery capacity.
Screen brightness decides whether the phone is usable outdoors. Listings quote "1000 nits" or "1200 nits", usually a peak figure for a small area. Anything under 700 nits is hard to read in Indian afternoon sun.
Build protection is the other quiet difference. IP54 handles dust and splashes; IP65 handles jets of water. Neither survives a swim, and neither is a substitute for a case on a phone with a glass back.
Buying a phone that will still get updates
Software support now varies more than hardware. At this price, some listings promise two years of OS updates and four of security patches, others claim six generations of OS upgrades. Both are listing claims, and the practical difference is how long the phone stays safe to use for banking apps.
Check the Android version shipped and the promised support window before buying. A phone that launches on the current Android version with two years of updates is a better long-term buy than one launching a version behind with an unclear policy.
Storage speed also matters for longevity: UFS storage keeps the phone responsive as it fills, while older eMMC storage slows down. It is rarely in the headline spec, so look for "UFS" in the detail section.
Questions we get asked
Is 4GB RAM enough in 2026?
For calls, WhatsApp, YouTube, UPI and light browsing, yes. For gaming or keeping several apps open without reloads, 6GB is the safer choice.
Should I buy a 64GB or 128GB phone?
128GB if your budget allows. Android and apps take 25–30GB, and photos and chat media fill another 20GB within a year on a 64GB phone.
Are these prices for 5G variants?
Most are 5G, but the ₹11,998 realme Narzo 80 Lite is 4G. Each pick states its network type — check before buying if 5G matters in your area.
