Best Induction Cooktop Under ₹3000

Updated 5 November 2026

An induction cooktop is the cheapest way to add a second cooking zone: it plugs into a 16 A point, heats faster than a gas burner, and does not heat the kitchen around it. Under ₹3,000 every model here is 2,000 W, so the wattage tells you nothing — the differences are presets, surge protection and build.

The appliance itself is the easy part. The real decision is cookware: induction needs a flat, magnetic base. Stainless steel works, cast iron works, aluminium and glass do not unless they have an induction base plate. If your kadhai is aluminium, budget for one induction-compatible pan along with the cooktop.

These five are all 2,000 W and under ₹3,000, with prices checked on the date shown and ratings read from each Amazon listing. One has 4 kV surge protection, which matters more in India than any preset.

2000 W · Double/single coil · Full touch control · Auto shut-off

Best for: A reliable second cooking zone at a sensible price

  • The highest-rated induction cooktop here at 4.3, from a brand that has built a following on budget kitchen appliances.
  • Double/single coil heating spreads heat more evenly than a basic single coil, which matters for dosas and chapatis.
  • Auto shut-off, overheat protection and cookware detection are all listed — the three safety features that matter.

Watch out: Touch panels are harder to use with wet hands than physical buttons; wipe your hands before adjusting.

2. Best surge protectionRated 4 / 5 on Amazon

Prestige PIC 16.0 Plus, 2000 W, 4 kV Surge Protection

2000 W · 4 kV surge protection · 8 Indian presets

Best for: Areas with voltage fluctuations, and preset-led cooking

  • A 4 kV surge rating is the standout spec here — it protects the cooktop from the voltage spikes that kill cheap induction units.
  • Eight presets cover pressure cook, curry, dosa/chapati, idli, deep fry, heat milk, keep warm and sauté, calibrated for Indian cooking.
  • Prestige service coverage is the widest of any brand in this guide.

Watch out: The most expensive pick at ₹2,999, and still rated 4.0 rather than higher.

  • Seven presets including rice, boil and frying, at a price that is half the Prestige.
  • Auto shut-off and overheat protection are listed, which is not guaranteed at this price.

  • Compact and portable — easy to move between the kitchen and a table.

CADLEC CookEase Induction Cooktop, 2000 W, 8 Modes

2000 W · 8 cooking modes · LED display

Best for: Small counters where the cooktop lives on the counter

  • Eight cooking modes and a slim body that takes less counter space than the Prestige or iBELL.
  • 2,000 W, so it boils as fast as anything else here.
  • A useful middle option if the ₹1,299 model feels too basic and the ₹2,000+ models feel like overkill.

Watch out: Same 3.9 rating and no surge rating as its cheaper sibling — buy it for the size, not the electronics.

What 2,000 W means in practice

A 2,000 W induction cooktop boils a litre of water in roughly five to seven minutes and holds a rolling boil on a 1,600–1,800 W setting. That is faster than a domestic gas burner for boiling, and slower for things that need a wide flame, like roasting a brinjal directly.

It draws about 8.7 A at 230 V, so it needs a 16 A socket — not a 6 A lighting point and not a thin extension lead. If the plug or the cable warms up, stop using it on that circuit.

Induction is efficient because the heat is generated in the pan, not the glass. The downside is that the glass surface stays hot from contact, so it still needs time to cool before you wipe it.

SettingPowerUse it for
Low200–600 WSimmering dal, keeping food warm, melting butter
Medium800–1,400 WEveryday sabzi, eggs, dosa, pancakes
High1,600–2,000 WBoiling water, deep frying, quick stir-fries

Presets, surge protection and cookware

Presets are convenience, not magic. A “dosa” preset is just a temperature and time combination you could set yourself; what matters is whether the cooktop holds a steady low temperature without cycling on and off too aggressively. Prestige’s eight Indian presets are the most useful set here because they match what an Indian kitchen actually cooks.

Surge protection is the feature worth paying for. Indian voltage fluctuates, and a 4 kV surge rating on the Prestige is a real safeguard for a ₹3,000 appliance. If your area has frequent outages, plug the cooktop into a stabilised circuit or a surge-protected board.

For cookware, do the magnet test: if a fridge magnet sticks firmly to the base, the pan will work. Flatness matters as much as material — a warped base only touches part of the coil, which is why the cooktop keeps cutting out or reports “no pan”.

Questions we get asked

Will my existing utensils work on an induction cooktop?

Only if the base is magnetic. Stainless steel and cast iron usually work; plain aluminium, copper and glass do not. Do the magnet test before you buy.

Why does the cooktop switch off while cooking?

Usually because the pan is not induction-compatible, the base is warped, or the cooktop is overheating. Let it cool, check the pan with a magnet, and make sure the air vents are not blocked.

Is induction cheaper to run than gas?

Per unit of heat delivered, induction is efficient, but the running cost depends on your electricity tariff versus LPG price. As a second burner for boiling and quick cooking, it is usually cheaper than running a second gas connection.
