Bedsheet shopping in India runs on one number: thread count. It is also the number most likely to be misleading. A 144 TC pure cotton sheet and a "300 TC cotton feel" sheet are not the same product, and the difference shows up after the third wash.
Pure cotton is the material to look for at this price. Glace cotton, cotton-feel and microfibre blends are polyester-heavy — they feel smooth in the shop, pill within months and trap heat in summer. If the listing does not say 100% cotton, assume it is a blend.

Thread count, honestly explained
Thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch. Up to about 300, a higher count generally means a denser, smoother fabric. Above that, the number is often inflated by counting plies rather than threads, which is why a "600 TC" sheet can feel thinner than an honest 300 TC one.
For Indian summers, 144–300 TC pure cotton is the comfortable range. The 144 TC sheets here are crisp and breathable; the 300 TC ones feel smoother but are heavier. Neither is better — it depends on whether you sleep hot.
Watch the word "feel". "Cotton feel" and "glace cotton" are blends, usually polyester with a cotton-like finish. They are cheaper, wrinkle less and are genuinely easier to maintain, but they sleep warmer and do not soften with age the way cotton does.

Measure the mattress, then add the drop
A bedsheet has to cover the mattress top plus the drop on both sides. A standard double mattress in India is 72 × 48 inches; a king is 72 × 60 inches. Add 10–12 inches of drop per side and you need roughly 90 × 100 inches for a king, or 88 × 90 inches for a double.
Most listings give the sheet size in inches, and some give it in centimetres with typos — one listing here states 228 × 2254 cm, which is clearly meant to be millimetres. Compare the inch figure, not the centimetre one.
If you use a thick mattress topper, add another 4 inches to each dimension. A sheet that barely tucks in will pop off the corners the first night.

Is 144 TC good for a bedsheet?
Yes, for pure cotton in Indian weather. It is breathable and crisp, and it softens with every wash. 300 TC feels smoother but is denser and warmer.
What is cotton feel or glace cotton?
Usually a polyester blend finished to feel like cotton. It is cheaper and wrinkle-resistant but less breathable, so it sleeps warmer than pure cotton.
What size bedsheet fits a king bed in India?
Look for roughly 90 × 100 inches (about 228 × 254 cm), which covers a 72 × 60 inch mattress with a normal drop on both sides.
